The mud separator is a simple equipment for classification, desludging and concentration. Its appearance is an inverted cone. A feed cylinder is set at the center of the liquid surface, and the bottom edge of the cylinder is submerged to a certain depth below the liquid surface. The slurry is fed into the center cylinder along the tangent direction and flows out from the bottom edge after being buffered. The outflowing slurry flows radially to the peripheral overflow weir. At present, it is mainly used to desludify the raw ore to improve the classification efficiency; it is also installed in front of the grinding equipment to concentrate and dehydrate the ore to increase the feed concentration of the grinding machine; it is also used to control the feed concentration and ore quantity in front of various ore slime separation equipment.

The classic gravity sedimentation principle is used to achieve mud separation. When materials such as slurry enter the desludging bucket, a stable sedimentation environment is formed inside the bucket body. The fine mud particles are discharged with the overflow liquid due to their small gravity and slow sedimentation speed; while the useful mineral particles with higher density quickly settle to the bottom of the bucket and are discharged from the bottom discharge port. The entire desludging process does not require complex mechanical transmission, and only relies on the material's own gravity and water flow to complete the separation.
